Bible Prophecy and Truth

Is it wrong to defend your home? Is Israel wrong for defending their borders from violent rioters?

selfDefense

Let's put it in perspective. Say you have a large family with elderly all way to young babies living in your house. Most people don't have to pretend this is true, but if you don't, just pretend for a minute.

If you had a neighbor who had some members of the family that were evil and violent and the rest of the family did nothing to stop their murders and raping and evil ways, and their house burnt down but none of the other neigbors would take them in, would you bring the evil one's into your home to live with your children and wife and parents, etc., in order to "help" them?

Or, if your neighbor threw bottle bombs over the fence into your yard from time to time, once in a while during times where young children were playing in the back yard, would you just sit there and take it, or would you be justified in doing something about it?

Is it "racist" to want to keep murderous and rapist immigrants from coming into our country? Is Israel evil for countering rocket attacks?

Ex 22:2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

There’s Jesus’ injunction to "turn the other cheek" (Matt 5 and Luke 6). There’s quite a difference between slapping someone across the face and someone wanting to take a baseball bat to your head or the head of your wife and children. Self-defense is a biblical option in such cases. What God is referring to in Matthew 5 and Luke 6 when He said that is not retaliating but being kind to your enemy despite their wicked ways. It's not talking about sitting idly by while evil is being enacted in your presence, it's talking about forgiving those who speak evil of you or sue you, etc.

Matt 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

If I end up dying for Jesus, for Jesus and His name, I will not fight it and will die willingly, but to sit in my house and allow evil men to come in and rape my wife, steal my goods and kill me? Umm... there is nothing in the word of God that says I must do that.

To be a martyr for Christ is one thing, but does that mean we must watch evil enacted in our presence and do nothing to stop it?

For us, authentic Christianity is the loving, peaceful, just and generous way of life embodied in Jesus. It is characterized more by self-giving than self-defense, by pre-emptive peacemaking rather than pre-emptive violence. Authentic Christianity includes the whole Bible. Being loving, peaceful, just and generous, and self-giving do not nullify our responsibility to be prepared with a good self-defense strategy if we are ever confronted with murder or rape situations. Being armed and willing to defend ourselves, our family, and our neighbors is not being unchristian or even unloving. Self-defense can go a long way to protect the innocent from people who are intent on murder for whatever reason.

For us to guard our loved ones, or not wish murders and rapists to enter our neighborhoods, or for Israel to defend herself from violent attackers is not unloving or unGodly.
